Seattle Seahawks
The Seattle Seahawks have been part of the NFL since 1976, when Seattle was awarded an expansion franchise. The team has used the name Seattle Seahawks throughout its entire history.
The Seahawks have won 2 Super Bowl Championships. Seattle captured its first title in Super Bowl XLVIII after the 2013 season, defeating the Denver Broncos 43-8. The Seahawks won their second championship in Super Bowl LX after the 2025 season, defeating the New England Patriots 29-13 on February 8, 2026.
The franchise has been home to legendary players including Steve Largent, Kenny Easley, Cortez Kennedy, Walter Jones, Dave Krieg, Curt Warner, Shaun Alexander, Matt Hasselbeck, Russell Wilson, Marshawn Lynch and many others.
Retired Numbers
The Seahawks have officially retired the jersey numbers of four players:
- #45 – Kenny Easley
- #71 – Walter Jones
- #80 – Steve Largent
- #96 – Cortez Kennedy
These four Hall of Fame players represent different generations of Seahawks football. Steve Largent became one of the greatest receivers of his era, Kenny Easley and Cortez Kennedy became defensive legends, and Walter Jones established himself as one of the greatest offensive tackles in NFL history.
Honored Number – The 12s
The Seahawks also permanently retired #12 in honor of their fans, known as the 12s. The number was retired on December 15, 1984, making it a symbol of Seattle's passionate fanbase rather than a retired player number.
The Seahawks also honor many important players, coaches and contributors through the Seahawks Ring of Honor, which includes legends such as Jim Zorn, Dave Krieg, Curt Warner, Jacob Green, Shaun Alexander, Matt Hasselbeck and others.
Every player has a story, and no player should ever be forgotten.
