Green Bay Packers

The Green Bay Packers were organized in 1919 and are one of the oldest and most storied franchises in the National Football League. Unlike many NFL teams, the Packers have proudly kept the same name throughout their history. From their early years in the small Wisconsin city of Green Bay to becoming one of the most successful organizations in professional football, the Packers have built a tradition unlike any other.

The Packers have won an NFL-record 13 world championships. They captured NFL titles in 1929, 1930 and 1931, becoming the first team to win three consecutive championships. Green Bay later dominated the 1960s under head coach Vince Lombardi, winning three straight NFL championships from 1965 through 1967 and the first two Super Bowls. The Packers later won Super Bowl XXXI after the 1996 season and Super Bowl XLV after the 2010 season.

Green Bay's history is filled with legendary players. Founder and longtime coach Curly Lambeau helped establish the franchise, while Don Hutson revolutionized the passing game during the 1930s and 1940s. The Lombardi era produced icons such as Bart Starr, Paul Hornung, Jim Taylor, Ray Nitschke and Willie Wood. Later generations brought unforgettable stars including Brett Favre, Reggie White, Donald Driver, Charles Woodson, Aaron Rodgers and many others.

The Packers have officially retired six jersey numbers: #3 Tony Canadeo, #4 Brett Favre, #14 Don Hutson, #15 Bart Starr, #66 Ray Nitschke, and #92 Reggie White. These numbers represent some of the most important figures in Packers history. Beyond the retired numbers, the Packers Hall of Fame and the team's many honored legends recognize generations of players, coaches and contributors who helped create the franchise's remarkable tradition.
